QMCC'11 Cancelled!

Due to the events in the aftermath of the Earthquake in Japan on March 11th, we decided to cancel the QMCC11 workshop as part of Crowncom. However, we are considering to reschedule the workshop and to move it to another venue, and expect the workshop to take place later in the year.
We will try to inform you about the new venue as soon as possible.

Welcome to QMCC11 @ CrownCom 2011

Cognitive Radio Networks research has become a mature area, and the application of CRN technology as a complementing communication system moves closer. Undoubtedly, there are plenty of hurdles to be overcome but there are already many potential solutions, or approaches to solve the problems. Combining opportunistic use of spectrum with managed Quality of Service (QoS) and seamless mobility will be one of the main issues to be overcome. To this end the efficient use of spectrum and energy, co-existence with and protection of other services, a good and affordable user experience, and opening up of the mobile markets are driving forces for wider acceptance and, eventually, deployment of Cognitive Radio Networks.

QMCC11, the first workshop on QoS & Mobility in Cognitive Communications will concentrate on the mechanisms and enablers that are required to provide QoS and seamless mobility, not only to the operator managed users of spectrum, but also to those who access the spectrum opportunistically.

QMCC11 will concentrate on the technical approaches and the wider hurdles to be overcome and will solicit presentations that discuss techniques and novel approaches to facilitate QoS and mobility support.

QMCC11 will be held on May 31st 2011, as one day workshop, part of CrownCom 2011, in Yokohama, Japan.

Call for Presentations

The scope of the workshop is on collaboration and cross-fertilisation of CRN research, between the three ITU regions, we encourage presentations that highlight the on-going work on areas like:

  • cognitive radio network approach,
  • system architectures,
  • spectrum allocation,
  • spectrum access,
all presentations have to show their explicit relation to the provision of QoS and the handling of mobility in CR systems.
Presentations will be chosen based on submitted abstracts (details and directions are provided in the CFP).
